Adolescent/Teen
Adolescence is a confusing and difficult time for both teens and parents alike. The teenagers mind and body are undergoing significant changes. They are struggling to understand those changes and their role in relationship to others. Meanwhile, teens are subject to the societal pressures, but it is during this time important decisions that are made will affect the rest of their life. It is not easy being a teen or a parent of a teen. Counseling is a joint effort with the parents to help the teen sort through this confusing time of their life.
Anger Management (Adults & Children)
Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems--problems at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life. And it can make you feel as though you're at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion. The goal of anger management is to reduce both your emotional feelings and the physiological arousal that anger causes. You can't get rid of, or avoid, the things or the people that enrage you, nor can you change them, but you can learn to control your reactions. Anger management can be on an individual basis, however the group process provides many advantages some of which include understanding you are not alone, feedback and support from others, and building confidence among peers. The group process also addresses communication and "thinking about your thinking" concepts.
Children Counseling
There is always a reason for behavior. When we see a child hurting, it is difficult to understand. Unlike adults, they find it difficult to tell us how they feel. We may see anger instead of sadness or acting out instead of disappointment. Children require special care. We offer services which support younger children in expression of their feelings in ways that they understand.
Christian Counseling
Counseling that brings understanding to both life's problems and their solutions from God's perspective. God not only provided instructions on how to enjoy life, but also how to find healing when we have been wounded, and forgiveness when we hurt others. He promises to help us through the most difficult times in our life if we will invite Him to do so. Christian counseling involves bringing the best psychology has to offer with the truth of God's Word to help individuals become free of the bondage of emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual pain.
Co-Dependency Group
Do you feel desperate when you don't get another's approval? Do you find yourself walking on eggshells in fear of another's reaction? Do you fear that if others really "knew" you, they wouldn't like you? Do you sometimes feel responsible for other's feelings? Do you cover up, lie, justify or excuse another's behavior? These are just a few of the questions that may define a co-dependent's life. Co-dependency is living the myth that you can make yourself happy by trying to control people and events outside yourself. It is an epidemic in this country and crosses generations of Americans. By learning new behaviors and understanding the importance of healthy boundaries, a person can learn to change their life and experience healthy relationships.
Drug & Alcohol/Dependency Counseling
Often times negative behaviors are used to cope with the stress of life and responsibilities, those behaviors become habitual, and then addictive. Dependency counseling helps to identify those habitual or addictive behaviors. Then the process is ongoing in helping with the devastating effects of addictions through education, support, and development of new coping skills. Since addictions also effect family and loved ones, it is often important to include those relationships in counseling. Without realizing it, loved ones can enable the addictive behaviors and foster environments for relapse.
Employment Assistance Counseling
Everyone has problems from time to time. Some can be solved alone; others require help. Sometimes, living in the center of a problem makes it difficult to recognize. Sometimes, it can be seen but it seems there is no help, no way out of it. EAP offers constructive, positive help for all employees. Whether you are referred by your boss or seek help on your own, confidentiality will be maintained. Specific details or definition of an employee problem is confidential. Only with an employee's signed consent will any information between counselor and employee be released. For EAP counseling, please review your employee manual for referral information.
Executive Coaching
For the individual who has a specific focus in which they wish to become stronger or make a life change, we offer executive life coaching. This is a solution focused; time limited approach to facing personal issues.
Family Counseling
An individual is part of the lives of others. Often it is necessary to include members of their family or friendship group in the counseling process. This is helpful in developing support, clear communication, and change where it is beneficial to all involved.
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is about connecting with a professional who can journey with you through difficult times. This professional is someone who can understand your situation, offer encouragement, direction, and professional guidance. The therapeutic relationship provides an outside perspective and a partner in overcoming life's difficulties. It is only a myth that only "crazy, wacked out or messed up" people can benefit from counseling. The truth is even "normal" people need help too. All of us experience hardships in life and relationships, no matter how good our life journey has been. Counseling is about joining with an experienced guide who can help with the current journey by navigating through complex situations to find healing from confusing or painful emotions. Professional counselors have training and experience to help individuals gain understanding about their circumstances and find solutions to life's problems.
Marital Counseling
For most of us, there is no other relationship we have as adults that have more influence on us than our lover relationship. Marriage can be a source of intense pleasure or unbearable pain. It can build, encourage, and help us or it can demean, tear down, and foster immaturity. Marriage counseling helps couples identify their weakness in their relationship and help build on their strengths by providing an objective evaluation, explore past and present experiences, identify destructive relational patterns and form a plan of action.
